Shrinky Dink Craft Night Tips & Tricks:
Thinking of hosting a Bookish Shrinky Dink craft night or just planning to get crafty yourself? Check out these tips and tricks:
- Make sure you have plenty of coloring materials — sharpies work super well, but surprisingly colored pencils also make for a nice solid color.
- Outline your design on the shiny side of the paper first, then flip it over and color it in on the rough side.
- Use a white colored pencil on the parts of your art that you want to look white and not clear.
- If your design includes letters, make sure you flip them so when you're coloring in the design the words are written backwards (another reason outlining on the shiny side first is helpful!).
- If you're making charms and want the perfect size hole for attaching them to a bracelet or keychain, use a regular size single hole punch. It shrinks down to the perfect size!
- Just like you can see on the paper, when they are shrunk, one side will be glossy and the other will be rough. So to make them feel finished on both sides, use resin or glossy mod podge to coat the rough side (or both!).
