Apprentice to the Villain
⭐⭐⭐
Just okay. 2.5 stars rounded up…
I found myself wincing at the writing in this one too many times. While there are great overall concepts in this book, I felt like the overall storytelling execution left a lot to be desired. This wasn’t an issue in the first book because it was so light and fun. I think now that the story is trying to reveal more complex and interwoven details the writing and story structure kind of fell apart for me.
Also, if I read the word “censure” one more time it will be too soon.
Still a fun read! And I’ll definitely read the third one when it comes out. But I’ll have expectations in the right place.
