Quicksilver
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Gotta deduct a star from this one, but it was SO good in the end!
From the beginning, I was very interested in the story’s trajectory. But it was hard to know what the main plot line was. Looking back and having the answers that are explained toward the end of the book, it’s very easy to forgive the opening third of the book that just didn’t read as smoothly as I would have liked.
I will say that I felt like a lot of the banter in the beginning (before the true dynamics were established) was gratuitous—the innuendo and focus on dirty jokes was a little cringe at times, or there was just too much of it. And Callie Hart loves the F word a little too much. It was funny and well placed often, but also grossly overused. Haha.
Once things really got cooking from a plot perspective, I couldn’t put it down. The character development was great, and I still feel like there’s plenty left to unpack in future books. Really love where it’s going and can’t wait for book 2!
Oh and for those curious—it ends really well. No massive cliffhanger, but several “whaaaat?” kind of revelations and it does promise much more to come. But I finished reading it and felt completely satisfied!
