5 stars for a Young Adult novel. I flip flop between 4 and 4.5 stars for me. I wished the characters were a little older so we could have gotten at least a little spice, but at the same time this author did a great job with the tension and romance scene building. The plot was a little predictable, I wished that there was at least one twist I didn’t see coming, but I don’t think there was. And at the same time, the plot reads as any great fantasy and unfolds as perfectly.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can’t wait to see how the story wraps in book 2!!
