What a cute story! This was my first Ali Hazelwood and it has definitely made me excited to read her other books. If you're looking for a quick read that still has a full story arc and makes you fall in love with the characters — this is a great option. It's refreshing to have a green flags all around MMC. I also connected with our FMC in this one too — she might have a little enneagram 8 going on with the hard to connect emotionally thing (hi, that's also me). My favorite parts were the techy / space / STEM aspect of this story. I'm in the tech world in real life, and also very nerdy, so it just added to the story for me and made the story feel grounded. Would recommend as a very enjoyable quick read!

Reread for book club. Ok so I love Ali and this book, but if I’m grading it against her other things, it’s like a 3.5. It’s definitely cute, and for a novella, has a pretty solid structure. I forgot how much I didn’t like the FMC in this one 😬 I think if her switch from being anti-dating to open to love happened in that 5-year gap instead of because of a near-death experience, I would be so much more on board. I’m not saying she doesn’t deserve him… but he sure is pulling a lot of the weight, and were the genders swapped, I’d probably be like “why tf are you waiting 5 years for this man?” Also the miscommunication trope always kills me.
